Hello to all W201 enthusiasts!
My name is George, and I live in Greece. After many years of owning an almost new BMW E30 (1988, 64K kilometers), I finally saw the light(!) and decided to shift to a Mercedes W201.
After almost a year of searching, last winter I finally found an immaculate green 190e 1.8 with only 17K kilometers. The 1st owner was an old gentleman who bought it back in 1990 in Finland, brought it to Greece in 1991, and then decided that he didn't need a car(!), So, he parked it in a closed garage, and for all those years he was taking it out every week for a 3-4 blocks ride, washes it and drives it back. Every week. For 31 years! The result is a car that looks and smells as if it just came out from the factory.
In addition, the car was serviced every year in an authorized dealer and got fresh tires every four years. All the service invoices were of course available, along with the 4 keys, manuals, brochures etc.
Unfortunately, the car is equipped only with an air condition, power steering, wooden trims and steering wheel and a Becker Avus 803 analogue radio. That's it. No alloy rims, no ABS, no tachometer, no electrical windows/antenna, no central locking, no armrest, no metallic paint, no, no, no. The icing on the cake is the 4 speed manual gearbox
Since the day that I bought it I've done almost 4.000 km and I have to admit that it drives wonderfully. No rattles and funny noises, the suspension works flawlessly and the engine sounds healthy and strong (well, maybe "strong" is an exaggeration). Ιf things go well, I'm planning to grow old with her
Here are some photos - a set of original Gulldeckel rims were added by me since then.
